The Hopi name for the Wilson’s Phalarope is mo-moosh’too-i-tuck-uh. With this species, once the females have laid their eggs, they let their mates raise the young while they find other males to mate with. This is known as polyandry and it is why the female Wilson’s Phalaropes are more brightly colored.
