Habitat

Deserts, grasslands, savannahs, wetlands, and scrubby terrains.

Range

Used to be common in dry U.S. grasslands but now more commonplace in Central and South America. Aplomado Falcons are being re-introduced in south Texas.

Aplomado Falcon pairs often exchange food while flying in midair. Sometimes the male transfers the food smoothly to the female, while other times he holds on just a bit too long, causing the female to drag him through the air until he releases it.
